Euronet Worldwide strengthens its network performance with Expand Networks

Expand Networks is the pioneer and leader in WAN optimization for branch office consolidation and virtualization, and is positioned in the 'Leaders' quadrant in Gartner Inc's Magic Quadrant for WAN Optimization Controllers. Recognizing these capabilities, Euronet Worldwide has engaged Expand to strengthen its organisation's network infrastructure based on long-term strategy rather than looking at a 'quick-fix' solution.

Euronet Worldwide is a global provider of electronic payment and transaction processing solutions with its core business focused on processing high numbers of electronic financial transactions. While reliability and speed of network performance is critical for these sensitive transactions of high importancy, Euronet finds itself facing problems with remote data replication and network performance when the volume of transactions took a significant increase. And the responsibility of Expand Networks here is to assure service availability and optimum network performance.

“Even though Telecommunication lines are not cheap, the business was ready to spend money to double the bandwidth in order to overcome the problem with network performance,” said Ashish Mehta, Director IT & Infrastructure (Asia Pacific & Middle East). However, even after the bandwidth upgrade, data lag between primary and remote sites continued to occur. “With the continued growth in transaction numbers, we knew this couldn’t be a long lasting solution. Instead, we looked for a long-term strategic solution and WAN Optimization was the answer.”

The recent cooperation with Euronet India on one of its projects demostrates Expand Networks’ continued market dominance in the APAC region and is set to provide Euronet cost-savings of over $100,000 over a three year period.

Mr. Mehta concluded, “With this solution, we now feel confident to implement this optimization strategy in other countries. Having experienced the benefits of the Expand solution, the technology will allow us to grow our business in places where high latency networks or costly telecoms lines had previously constrained us.”
